Kim Davis, the uber religious county clerk, famous for being jailed for refusing to perform her sworn duties in Rowan County, Kentucky, called a press conference on Thursday to make what she called, “a landmark revelation”.
There was speculation that the staunch Christian might be announcing a fifth divorce or perhaps even reveal a third out-of-wedlock birth from her past. Those possibilities were quickly put to rest.
Standing next to a man dressed as the Scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz (her latest husband), Ms Davis said that she was switching her political affiliation from Democrat to Republican.
“I feel more at home among people who say they’ll do one thing and then do something else entirely, said the affable zealot. The Republicans took one look at my record of broken oaths and promises…. my reinterpretation of Scripture to suit my own needs and proclaimed me one of their own. They came down to bust me out of jail a while back and said a lot of nice things that were explained to me later on. To tell the truth (for once) I was only a Democrat in the first place because one of my husbands …. Billy Bob or Otis maybe ….. said we’d be able to keep on getting food stamps easier for the the two little bastards I had before finding the Lord and my first husband….Rebel or Pervis maybe….”
