Mass Murderer Threatens More Mayhem

While we in the US wrestle with the thorny problem of whether serial killers should be afforded a painless end through lethal injection, Norway is forced to confront the dilemma of whether to upgrade a mass murderer’s video games in   prison. Norwegian Anders Breivik, who mowed down 77 people in 2011, has threatened to go on a hunger strike unless he gets the upgrade, as well as a sofa and a larger gym.

Norwegian authorities are scrambling to meet Breivik’s deadline as they pore over catalogs featuring 3D screens and more elaborate computer systems. So far the killer is being cagey about his choice of sofa, not letting on whether he   wants a fold out sleeper or something in tasteful black leather as suggested by the prison interior decorator.

Update: Anders has agreed to wait until prison authorities respond to his demands before beginning his hunger strike.
“I’m not an unreasonable person, said Anders to the Reuters News Agency, “but I’m serving 221 years and boredom is something I refuse to put up with.” Later in the day he threatened to send his dinner back to the prison chef, citing an overcooked Sirloin steak as the reason.
