Astrologer Joan Quigley, a guiding force during the Reagan administration, has died at 83. Her crystal ball found itself in the oval office during the turbulent 1980’s, when President Reagan made some of the most important decisions for the country. “She started out just having Ronnie put on underwear emblazoned with the signs of the Zodiac, said Nancy Reagan in a People Magazine interview in 1993, but before long she was using astrological charts to align our ballistic missiles according to the stars and planets.” Quigley is credited with keeping the Reagans from adopting voodoo and Santeria to steer America’s ship of state during Iran-Contra. She was overheard telling Mrs Reagan that “voodoo and Santeria are just a bunch of mumbo jumbo, while astrology is a scientifically driven discipline like chiropractic and Big Foot.”
