Citing precedent in which Mohammed himself had taken a child as a wife, a 58 year old Saudi Arabian businessman resisted calls to divorce his 8 year old bride several weeks after they had been joined in matrimony. Requesting annonymity, Saudi national Habrim Hafeil Al-Abidin, told a religious judge that a deal had been struck with an acquaintance who owed him some money and who had offered up his minor daughter in exchange for canceling the debt. He said that he picked up the girl the next day as she played with dolls in the front yard of the family home. “She resisted, said Al-Abidin, there was some screaming and her mother had to be tackled by an uncle or two, but I think our marriage is off to a great start”. He went on to say that he had initially planned on a honeymoon at Legoland in California but felt the girl was too young to be among the “filthy Western infidels” they would inevitably encounter. “Some of these Western dogs object to the blessed May/December romances observed under Wahabism. But then, they also complain about cutting off the hands of thieves, beheading non believers, blah, blah, blah. Remember, these are the same ignorant savages who allow women to drive cars, eat pork and open their pie holes in public.” Wahabi Judge, Sheikh Habib Al-Habib, cognizant of the world wide furor over the marriage, asked Al-Abidin if he might consider holding off consumation of the marriage until the girl had shed the last of her baby teeth. but the recalcitrant bride groom was indignant. “I’m in the bloom of my youth over here, what am I supposed to do if she comes on to me, tell her to go watch Sesame Street?”
Saudi Man Urged to Divorce Child Bride
I lived in Saudi Arabia from age 14 – 21 during the 70’s.
i lived amongst the populace and was not hidden away in some compound.
I learnt arabic fluently and used local transport.
I was accepted into the inner circle of a Saudi family and was able to see life as an arab at close quarters.
An arab man of poor standing would have to save for upto 30 years to afford the dowry to obtain a wife.
A woman is considered a burden to the family. She cannot in most cases contribute financially or carry on the family name. She’s another mouth to feed who is unlikely to payback the financial commitment that has been spent on her upbringing. The best way to combat this burden is to dispose of her as quickly as possible and in most cases as young as possible.
A dowry for a younger female would be smaller and within the reach sooner for these type of individuals.
Lack of education and status would also be a contributing factor in these instances.
However in this particular instance the Saudi man is a businessman, obviously has money and is educated to a reasonable standard.
He and the girl’s father are transparent in the trading of human flesh in lieu of payment.
I maybe wrong here but wasn’t slavery abolished in Saudi Arabia in 1964?
Wahabi Judgement suggests a subservient approach to the man’s intention to consumate the marriage to a child of 8.
All this does is to illustrate that the serious subject of child rape is acceptable in Islam and the Muslum world.
Please also note that Islam is growing World Wide and therefore using Wahabi Judgement it is very real that child rape will increase as well.
Why these people play in the name of Islam.. Marriage in Islam is a very important event. One should seek the permission of woman to be married. Otherwise that marriage should be cut off under Islamic jurisprudence/shari’a. I don’t think this man can marry a small kid. Anyway please stop these activities in the name of Islam. If this was in the time of Khalifa Umar (r.a) he would have bit this person with cane. Father exchange daughter is another act of prostitution.
