Gotta hand it to the Vatican. They have a way of turning priestly transgressions into something much more palatable for public consumption.
For instance, rape of a child by a priest is referred to as a “boundary issue”.
A priestly serial offender sent away to be counseled for “inappropriate contact” …. is on “sick leave.”
And now we have a new one: with at least 50,000 known births, where priests, bishops or cardinals are the biological dads, the proper term for such offspring according to the Vatican is, “children of the ordained”.
And after such a birth, the holy sperm donor is “requested” to leave the priesthood, but it’s only a suggestion. He can’t be forced out. (If the mother happens to be a nun, however, she gets expelled from her order for the “transgression”.)
I bet Ted Bundy (wherever he is) wishes the court had only “suggested” that he be executed for killing 36 young women. Oh wait …. maybe the proper term should be, he “relieved them of their life burden.”
