Clarence Hears a Who

With an obvious nod to Donald Trump, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has issued an opinion, saying that powerful folks have been maligned for far too long in the media. Clarence wants to roll back history to a time when public officials, billionaires and corporations could sue media outlets and newspapers for libel, if things were revealed they wanted kept under wraps.

Critics are calling the opinion Clarence’s “I have a dream” moment, because his own snoring on the bench, had startled him awake just before he came up with his lone opinion.

Chief Justice John Roberts explained that the rest of the justices had left for the day and the janitor had already turned out the lights, when Thomas snorted himself to consciousness in the darkened chamber.

“While I applaud Clarence’s desire to finally say something profound from the bench, it’s clear he hasn’t thought through the ramifications of his opinion. Taken to its obvious conclusion, media outlets would begin taking on a barrage of lawsuits for saying things that were patently false. Fox News would almost certainly be the first to go down in flames.”
