Time does heal all wounds, I guess. Here we are in 2019, with Donald Trump about to actually serve in Vietnam, by meeting with Kim Jong Un of North Korea.
This time around, Trump’s doctors have cleared the president to go on the trip, as he is no longer encumbered by those crippling bone spurs that prevented him from serving his country in Nam the last time he was called.
“I served in a military academy, Trump reminded his followers, many of whom are plagued by missing limbs and short memories. “I feel like I was there with you veterans. Like you, I often had to get up early. And like you, I was not allowed to mix the breakfast and lunch menu choices in the dining hall. It was terrible. I still have nightmares.”
One wheelchair bound vet wearing a MAGA hat asked the president if he would be granting a pardon to Paul Manafort, his disgraced campaign chairman, who has been convicted of multiple felonies.
“People are telling me that Paul has bone spurs. You can’t go to prison with bone spurs. Everyone knows that. Michael Cohen doesn’t have bone spurs. I think you can see where I’m going here.”
